I think they're very good donuts. Unlike Mr. Poon, that fetishist, I favor regular KK chocolate covereds. What they give you is a chocolate covered glazed donut. That's the distinctive touch: KK donuts are a little more hardcore than most commercial brands, a little more concentrated.
In other news, I now work for the Man. My new city features plenty of Krispy Kreme outlets; indeed, I pass one each morning.
Hmm, that would be a good icebreaker with the new co-workers ...
i was told i have adorable ears.
i don't know if i should take this as a compliment, or assume this person is psychotic/an ear fetishist.
very, very weird.
i had the opportunity to visit the new krispy kreme store out in everett (massachusetts' only one!) the other week. it was an interesting experience. there were tons of people queued up in a line snaking out the door. now, i've had krispy kreme donuts before, but never the opportunity to visit the store. it was sort of anti-climactic. watching the donuts being made just wasn't that interesting. but by the time i reached the head of the line, i got my very own very fresh donut (everyone in the store gets a free donut if you stand in line).
we sampled a variety of donuts, including the original glazed in various states of freshness. the original was excellent -- far superior to dunkin donuts' glazed donut -- but i liked it best a little cooled off. because of the heavy glazing, the krispy kreme donut suffers from the unfortunate habit of flaking off on your clothing. this is not good when you are wearing a black shirt. the problem is compounded by the inability of human fingers to extricate the glaze flakes from clothing.
i was severely disappointed by the kruller, perhaps my favorite donut. DD's is light, fluffy, and nice and sugary. KK's was flat, not sweet, and heavy. i don't recommend KK's at all. the sugar coated was nice, but would have been better if it had been hotter. it is a good alternative to the original glazed. the sour cream donut was a pretty standard donut. good, but others would have been better. the crowning glory was the caramel filled donut. it combined the sweet simplicity of the original glazed with ooey gooey caramel, plus chocolate and nuts and crunchy toffee bits on the top. it was a masterpiece of donutry.
i know why he did it, and it was purely to get the sexxxy moniker.
sorry it took so long ;)
if you didn't score tickets to the aerosmith/kiss concert, gene simmons will be signing books at the cambridgeside galleria's borders books on thursday at 7pm.
as i just said, i am back. my brain has been off, and august was sort of a rough month.
it's amazing how a few ill constructed sentences can get the juices flowing again. all my prior absences from blogging (if you've noticed, i do this rather frequently) have been fraught with guilt about not writing. this time i just up and stepped away from it. all of it. really, i've barely touched a computer in the last month, except for the really important stuff. it's weird. the break i think was really good for me, but i am really really happy to be back. ecstatic even. i normally suffer from a motivation/procrastination problem, and it takes a good month or so of doing absolutely nothing for me to kick it when it gets really bad (reallly, how much fun/how much alcohol can one person have/drink?). my friends and i have had many a discussion about why we've been such slackers this summer, and one thing is clear: the end is nigh! real life looms large. for career students, that's pretty fucking scary.
anyways, i'm out for now, but more good stuff soon (both here and at the regular place) :)
p.s. i need new headphones. any recommendations?
